We are proud to have eight of our most talented dancers furthering their dance and theatre studies overseas at such acclaimed institutions as the North Carolina School of the Arts, Indiana University, and the New World School of the Arts.In Motion is pleased to have recently had twenty six of its dancers participate in the Bermuda National Dance Foundation's first ever Summer Dance Institute in collaboration with the American Ballet Theatre. From this intensive three of our Senior Company dancers, now studying overseas, were awarded the Catherine Zeta-Jones Dance Scholarship..

Tyler Barker

Tyler Barker started his dance training at the In Motion School of Dance at the age of fifteen studying ballet, jazz and modern. Tyler's hard work and determination have earned him several scholarships including the Ross Blackie Talbot Scholarship and ABT Summer Institute Scholarship to pursue his dance studies further. Tyler is a Professional Company Member and soloist with Concepts In Motion and continues to perform both locally and overseas. He has attended summer programs at the Broadway Dance Center and the North Carolina School of the Arts in addition to the American Ballet Theatre's Summer Institute here in Bermuda. He is currently a Junior at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, working with such renowned choreographers such as Robert Battle, Peter London and Bambi Anderson and hopes to one day return to the island to share his passion with other dancers.

Courtney Lopes

Courtney began her dancing career at the In Motion School of Dance in January of 1999 studying ballet, jazz, tap and modern.She has performed for many charitable and corporate events around the island, including In Motion's Annual Dance Showcases and Concepts Company performances. Her strong performance and technical base has enabled her to have the opportunity to work with acclaimed choreographers such as SLAM and BJ Sullivan, both locally and overseas.She is a Professional Company member and soloist with Concepts In Motion and has participated in two Summer and a Fall dance programs at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City. In 2004 and 2005 she completed the 5 week Summer Intensive Program at the North Carolina School of the Arts and had the opportunity this summer to participate in Bermuda's first international Summer Dance Institute with the American Ballet Theatre.Courtney is currently pursuing her dance career overseas and is a fifteen year old, tenth grade Contemporary Dance Student at the North Carolina School of the Arts. She is the only International high school student accepted into this prestigious high school program this year, having won a place over numerous other applicants.

Karissa Roberts

Karissa Roberts started her dance training at the age of eleven at the In Motion School of Dance and quickly developed a strong sense of performance and passion for dance. At fourteen her hard work enabled her to become a Senior company member of the Concepts In Motion Dance Ensemble, performing in many corporate and local events including In Motions Annual Dance Showcases. Over the years she has studied ballet, jazz, modern and tap and has also had the opportunity to participate in summer intensives with the North Carolina School of the Arts and American Ballet Theatre Summer Institute. Karissa has worked with renowned choreographers such as SLAM and Willie Anderson and is currently a Professional Company member and soloist with Concepts In Motion. She is currently attending the North Carolina School of the Arts to obtain her BFA in contemporary modern dance and is a Bermuda Ballet Association and ABT Summer Institute Scholarship recipient.
